Amen to that brother
He felt like a slimy, despicable and unforgivable ass wipe. Honestly, he did.
Matt knew it was bad for him or any other guy to push their girlfriend into a relationship they weren't ready for.
But then again, he almost had her. Just a bit more and he would've taken her right there if it weren't for Liam. As much as he respected 'Mr. Perfect in everything known to man', Matt wanted to wrestle him to the ground and beat him to a bloody pulp for making Dani feel so low.
'A run around the field or a few hoops in the basketball court should do me good,' he decided before he caught a glimpse of someone running through the crowded school halls. He hurried his pace, wondering how someone like him recognized the sprinting face a while ago.
The kid was in his grade and they had English together. What was his name again? Death, Demon... Devil! "That's it," he murmured under his breath, stepping out into the courtyard. Devon Ian Lemche and Dani were in a skit together once. Something about 'North and South'.
Being the jealous, not to mention overprotective, suitor he was last year, Matt told Mr. Goth to stay away from her. Far away.
She didn't find out, of course, that Devil avoided her in partial fear of Matt. She thought he was being his emo/gothic self.
The only person he couldn't threaten was Liam. How could he? One word from the big man on campus and the whole school would be against him. No, he just had to-
"Matt!" called a voice from behind.
turning around, he saw a hassled Dani approach him. "Hey," he greeted, taken aback by her appearance. She never looked worried. Not in front of him anyway. "What's the matter babes?"
"The clinic, quick," she said curtly, pulling him by the arm.
"What happened Dani?" he asked before kissing her cheek and retracing his steps with his girlfriend. "Anything wrong?"
She looked up at him with those silvery blue eyes, her features molding back into that pretty smile he loved so much. "Liam got into an accident."
He felt a lump form in his throat. Liam. "Anything serious?"
She shrugged, but the smile remained. "Probably insulted the cube."
"What cube?"
"The one Leia refuses to leave her house without."
"The Rubik's cube?"
She nodded her head vigorously, her silvery blonde hair bounding up and down her shoulder. "Yup. The 5 by 5 by 5 one."
He cringed at her words. Having tried to solve the damned cube himself (and failing oh-so-miserably), he never wated to see another brain teaser ever again.
"I-," he stated before someone ran past him, nearly squishing his toes in the process. A trail of blood followed the kid. Oh, it was Devil. "Watch where you're going!"
"Come on," Dani beckoned, "infirmary's just around the corner."
And so it was. Heaving a sigh, Matt twisted the doorknob open, causing whoever was in front to jump a little.
The strangest sight met his eyes. Liam, being taken care of by the Head Nurse, Mrs. Wilson. Leia and a boy whose name he did not know sat parallel to each other, a chess board in between them. And Devil, who stood there, staring at Leia, his wrist bleeding.
"What the fuck?" he couldn't help but say out loud.
