-cheers- Hurray for dachshunds!
In the fifteen minutes that she waited for Dani after visiting Liam, Leia managed to:
a. Reassemble her Rubik's cube.
b. Solve the newspaper's crossword puzzle
c. Answer a sudoku puzzle and;
d. Give herself a sticker tattoo
The tattoo was a panda, located just beside her navel. Her cheerleading outfit made a point of showing that part off. The uniform resembled most other schools' cheerleading uniforms. Sleeveless, mid-riff bearing top with a skirt that reaches up to the girls' mid-thigh in their school colors of blue and silver.
Leia gazed at the black and white animal lovingly. She was proud of being compared to such an amazing creature. Clutching her bag close, she checked her watch when she heard something collide.
Her head shot up. It was Dani. Leia smiled as her best friend apologized and explained herself.
"It's okay," she told the blonde, laughing. she knew Dani would never replace her with Matt. She followed the 'chicks before dicks' rule just like how guys followed the 'bros before hoes' rule.
She caught Dani looking at her navel. Smiling, she asked her, "Do you like it?"
"I didn't have anything to do earlier so I stuck it on," she continued. Pulling Dani next to her, the two of them sat down on the bench beneath the cherry tree in the middle of the courtyard. The shade it provided was a blessing in the blistering heat of the sun. Leia found herself reaching for her water bottle and gulping down nearly half its contents. Her fingers burned from the coldness of the container but she didn't dare complain. She just appreciated the relief it gave her.
"Can I borrow your History book? I think I left mine at home," she explained to the other girl. She gave her a bright thanks when she received it.
"Strange," she mumbled, fingering the spine of the book. It didn't seem to be Dani's at all. She checked it and came across the name D'mitri Chekhov.
Her mind replayed Dani's collision with the new boy earlier. That must be him, she decided. Nobody in the school had a name like that. It was only logical that it belonged to the one guy no one knew yet.
"Hang on," she said to Dani. "I'm just gonna return this to that guy you hit earlier." She took off, jogging briskly towards the school.
Once inside, she searched for the dark haired boy. She found him near the lockers, ignoring the people around him.
She blushed at the thought of disturbing him. Oh, well. He seemed like the type of guy that brushed these type of things off anyway.
"Excuse me," she tapped him on the shoulder, her soft voice a bit smaller than normal. "Do you own this book? It says D'mitri Chekhov and I figured you got Dani's book instead. Dani's the girl you crashed into," she stopped once she realized she was ranting and turned even redder. Great. He'll never return the book now. He must be ticked off at her.
Gulping, Leia gathered the last ounce of courage she had and inquired, "I don't suppose you'll give it back, will you?"
